About Us

Johnny Kelley felt called to be a pastor as at a youth retreat when he was 13 years old. After many years spent running from his calling he finally made the move into full time ministry in 2001. He spent time in ministry school in Denver before moving to his first position as a youth pastor in New Mexico. 

After moving to Miami to work in a new ministry he felt the tug of God to start a new ministry and moved back to Lakeland where his family lived. Soon after moving back to Lakeland he met his wife Sarah. They fell in love and got married. All the while Johnny was ministering around the country in any way he could.

In 2013, Johnny and Sarah started the journey of planting a new, life-giving, family based church in Lakeland. On September 7, 2014 Discover Family Church held it’s first service at the YMCA in north Lakeland. Over the nearly 9 years DFC has seen more that 300 people come to know Jesus in a personal way. We are just getting started and can’t wait to see what God does next.

Pastor Johnny is a gifted teacher and communicator. He has a passion for making God’s word relatable and practical, and he has a heart for reaching people right where they are and introducing them to the refreshing message of Jesus. In their free time, Johnny and Sarah like spending time with their three boys Arlis, Linus, and Texas.
